Helvar 458 is Everyman’s solution

Built in 1895 the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham hosts an array of performances on a weekly basis. As part of the renovation project, a Helvar 458 series was incorporated into the lighting set up.

Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre now features a front of house lighting scheme controlled by Helvar 458 series devices.
As part of a multi-million pound refurbishment project at the facility, the front of house was subject to a complete remodel, which included lighting installation to produce levels and scenes appropriate for the variety of events taking place there.
London’s Light + Design Associates was tasked to devise a system to switch between low energy daytime settings and more elaborate lighting for public performance times. Additionally, a central control need to be applied to the system to allow all lights to be switched off from one position.
Project lighting designer Jim Morse from L+DA devised a system that incorporated the Helvar 458 series. “We’ve used Helvar lighting control systems for many years and have always been impressed with their simple operation,” said Morse. “This made the 458 system ideal for the Everyman where straight-forward operation of a complex system is paramount. Alongside that, the advantage of being able to separate the chassis and wiring connections (from the dimmers and relays) for the first fix installation ensures the delicate electronic equipment can be safely stored until it is installed and commissioned.”

Helvar recently announced an exclusive distribution partnership with Invision, which will see its range of lighting control devices distributed throughout the UK for the customer install market.
