ELAN g! system is good Apple for Arizona family

Systems integrator Digital Home Lifestyles equipped the new home with an ELAN g! system that can be easily controlled with an iPhone or iPad.

With Apple iPads and iPhones at the heart of the Musil family’s way of life in Phoenix, Arizona, the recent addition of an ELAN g! Entertainment and Control System at the their 18,000sqft home was a natural evolution thanks to the system’s compatibility with Apple devices.

The ‘dream home’, built by Scottsdale-based builder Sage Luxury Homes, features a media room, game room, fitness area, basketball court and a guesthouse. Phoenix-based integrator Digital Home Lifestyles was enlisted to install a control system that would offer complete control over every area of the home.

“When the homeowner told me that his top priority was to have total control over his home through his iPhone and iPad, I instantly thought of the ELAN g! system,” said Jeff Beall, president & CEO of Digital Home Lifestyles.

Digital Home Lifestyles equipped the home with an ELAN g! system that gives the Musil family control over lighting, surveillance, security, irrigation systems, audio, video and more. The g! system can be accessed through a variety of different interfaces including the homeowner’s iPhones and iPads, three ELAN TS10 touch screens and 25 ELAN Z100 keypads for AV functions. The installation included 10 Samsung LED LCD TVs throughout the house, three Apple TV systems, five Apple iPod docks and two Samsung Blu-Ray Players.

Digital Home Lifestyles installed a total of 10 Speco Technologies cameras – both inside and outside the house, including one on the entry gate – for surveillance. The team made available 24 zones of high quality audio through eight Niles loudspeakers, six Monitor Audio outdoor speakers and a Source Technologies LCR flat panel speaker. The ELAN g! system controls the functions of all the major rooms in the house, including the guesthouse where visitors can use g! interfaces to control the lighting, audio and video without any instructions necessary.

“What initially made the ELAN g! system so attractive was the idea that I could easily keep an eye on the house while I’m at the office or on vacation,” said Musil.

Most of the technology that makes all this possible is located in a rack unit located in a storage closet on the lower level. The rack includes an ELAN HC12 controller, three ELAN S128P AV Controller/Amplifiers, an ELAN S1616A Multi-zone Amplifier, an ELAN S86P Multi-Room A/V controller, an IC Realtime 16-Channel Security Camera DVR, aRotel amplifier and Krell amplifier, networking components from Motorola, Netgear and Pakedge, and a networked Sony Blu-Ray player.
