Alongside AirPlay, the unit also allows users to stream audio (including MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC and FLAC-HD) and photos directly from their PCs or NAS devices supporting the DLNA standard; choose from over 14,000 Internet Radio stations; and connect to the subscription-based Napster or Last.fm music services.

The AVR-2312 also features a front USB port supporting digital direct play of music stored on an iPod or iPhone for quick and simple integration.

Other elements of the specification include: seven HDMI inputs (1.4a repeater function with 1080p and 3D pass-through); Dolby Pro Logic IIz featuring Front Height effects channels; Dolby TrueHD/DTS-HD Master audio support for decoding the multi-channel recordings featured on Blu-ray discs; Audyssey Dynamic Volume, Dynamic EQ and MultEQ-XT technologies; and a new onscreen Setup Wizard instruction feature including a speaker connection guide, speaker calibration, suggested Dynamic Volume/EQ settings, source set-up and more; an upgraded GUI for ease of further system set-up, operation and display; and control through a built-in web interface by PC internet browser and the original Denon Remote App (available for free in the AppStore).
