Cuelux lighting control software now on Linux

Visual Productions’ Cuelux software lighting control is now available for Ubuntu, the most popular distribution of the Linux operating system.

Visual Productions’ Cuelux software lighting control is now available for the Ubuntu, the most popular distribution of the Linux operating system. Free of charge and renowned for its stability, this Linux form was introduced in 2004 and is named after the Southern African ethical principle Ubuntu (translating as ‘humanity towards others’).

Cuelux is a cost-effective DMX512 lighting controller for intelligent, conventional and LED lighting. It offers a darkened and touchscreen-optimised GUI, industry-standardised cuelist system, iPhone remote control and the ability to be used in 10 different languages. Cuelux also offers Plug ‘n’ Play support for MIDI control surfaces including fader wings, motorised faders and button stations.

The software was already available on Mac OSX and MS Windows (with both 32-bit and 64-bit drivers available), and will be showcased during PLASA 2010 next month.

Visual Productions sales manager Zoe Castle told IE: “Just over a year since the launch of Cuelux, the spread of sales across Europe and Scandinavia now covers the map well with a density in Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. Hungary, Germany and Switzerland are just a few countries where Cuelux has been installed in a club or ‘Lounge Café’, generally citing their choice to be price, usability and multi-platform motivated. A couple of theatres in Belgium and NL have recently installed Cuelux, selecting it for its budget-aware price and powerful simplicity.”
