NEC claims first with DCI compliance

NEC has announced that its Series 2 digital cinema projectors - including the NC1200C, NC2000C and NC3200S - have passed the testing procedure for DCI compliance certification.

NEC has announced that its Series 2 digital cinema projectors – including the NC1200C, NC2000C and NC3200S – have passed the testing procedure for certification according to the safety and technology standards of Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI), making it the first company to achieve DCI compliance for its entire digital cinema projector lineup. All tests were carried out by the experts at DMC/Keio University, the highly respected Japanese Research Institute for digital content and media technologies and one of only three institutions worldwide licenced to carry out the tests as part of the Compliance Test Plan (CTP) for the DCI Digital Cinema System Specification (DCSS).

The DCI standard was created by Digital Cinema Initiatives, a group of leading film studios, to ensure a consistent and high quality image for the cinema audience. The certificate guarantees the overall cinema industry compliance with current equipment and performance criteria for digital cinema equipment and products.

“We are very pleased that our whole Series 2 Digital Cinema projectors have successfully passed the strict regulations of DCI. Here at NEC we always strive to offer the best products with highest quality, easy operation and low maintenance,” said Gerd Kaiser, product line manager, large venue projectors at NEC Display Solutions. “Our customers can be sure to make an investment for the future with the most secure and high-quality investment decision available today.”
