EM Acoustics will introduce two new cardioid subwoofers to its portfolio at ISE 2026 in Barcelona. The CS15 and CS18 models are designed to meet demands from the live event, installation and theatre markets.
The company says the subwoofers feature a passive crossover network that generates cardioid performance using a single amplifier channel, rather than relying on bandpass group delay. This approach achieves rear rejection performance while reducing the need for additional amplifier channels, the company says.
The rear rejection performance aims to reduce low frequency energy radiating behind subwoofers, helping to keep stages and performance environments cleaner and potentially improving overall system response for both audience and performers.
Both models are available with standard and touring flyware options, and integrate with EM Acoustics’ existing product ecosystem.
Mike Wheeler, operations director at EM Acoustics, said: “The CS subwoofers are the result of a huge amount of cumulative research and engineering, and their conception speaks to our DNA as an operation, particularly with regards to crossover design. Critically, each CS subwoofer only requires a single amplifier channel. This in itself is not unprecedented, but our solution is unique in that the cardioid performance is generated by a highly advanced passive crossover network.”
He added: “Our R&D benchmark was that the performance of CS should be as good or better than a 2-channel, actively driven sub. We have met and exceeded that benchmark.”
Alongside the new cardioid subwoofers, EM Acoustics will showcase its complete Reference Series at ISE. The Reference Series includes low-profile, full-range point source loudspeakers across R4, R5, R6, R8, R10 and R12 models.
EM Acoustics will be exhibiting at Booth 7H350.
