Habitech launches pro install brand

Recognised for its distribution work in the UK Residential install market, Habitech has now crossed-over into the pro AV install market with the launch of its new pro brand.

Habitech is expanding its range of pro AV products with the launch its new brand HabitechPro, which will comprise several new commercial products including HDBaseT HDMI technology, iPad mounting solutions, 100V line speakers and a low voltage cable.

The new HDBaseT devices are capable of transporting and switching HDMI over a single Cat6 cable across distances up to 100m.

After six years in the UK residential custom install market, the distributor has decided expansion into the commercial market was necessary with the launch of HabitechPro reflecting this. The line up will primarily concentrate on digital connectivity – the transmission and switching of uncompressed high resolution 1080p video and audio signals with control and Ethernet over UTP.

Habitech’s entry into the commercial market is being spearheaded by Daryl Brennan (pictured), who has been brought in to the company as business development manager for HabitechPro.

Brennan has held key senior UK positions in system integration and AV distribution, while Jonathan Pengilley, Managing Director of Habitech, ran AV distribution and system integration businesses before establishing Habitech in 2006.

“Our expansion into Pro AV, unified communications and commercial channels is a natural progression for Habitech,” said Pengilley.

“Our success within the Residential CI market has been based on identifying the right products and supporting Dealers and System Integrators throughout the sales and installation process. We pride ourselves in offering ‘best in class’ technical support and having the right people on board who are passionate about what they’re doing. I’ve worked with Daryl before and he brings a wealth of experience and understanding to help us enter this market.”

“HabitechPro provides an exciting opportunity for me to be involved in fast growing market segments,” says Brennan. “For many years we’ve all grappled with the constraints and challenges of extending, switching and controlling HDMI over Cat5e cable. Now finally with the arrival of HDBaseT (and more recently HDBaseT Lite), this evolving standard is specifically designed from the ground up to transport and switch HDMI over a single Cat6 cable across distances up to 100m. Offering improved signal filtering to minimise electrical interference and ensure optimum performance, HDBaseT was developed to support 5Play convergence. It reliably transports uncompressed Full HD digital video, audio, 10/100BaseT Ethernet, power and various control signals over a single cable. In so doing, it effectively replaces the need to run separate HDMI, LAN, power and control cables.”
