AVNetworks 2010 – keynote speaker announced

The organisers of the AVNetworks 2010 conference have announced that the keynote speaker will be Marthinus Bester, who is in charge of AV and IT systems at Greenpoint Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa.

The organisers of the AVNetworks 2010 conference have announced that the keynote speaker will be Marthinus Bester, who is in charge of AV and IT systems at Greenpoint Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa. This was one of the stadiums used in this year’s FIFA Football World Cup, and Bester spent 18 months preparing the stadium for this globally significant event.

His presentation will focus on the different technologies used at the stadium, and will make the case for combining or simplifying the various networking standards used there. He will also discuss the differences between what was initially expected of a FIFA World Cup Stadium and what was finally delivered – and why they came about.

“Marthinus Bester will give AVNetworks 2010 a viewpoint from someone who has been involved in a top-level installation,” said Paddy Baker, editor of Installation Europe, which is presenting the conference alongside sister title Pro Sound News Europe. “Thanks to his IT background, he willl also provide some valualbe insights into the contentious areas surrounding AV/IT convergence.”

Sponsored by Riedel, Meyer Sound and Aviom, AVNetworks 2010 takes place on Wednesday 15 September alongside the PLASA2010 event.
