ISE announces opening keynote speaker for 2024 event

Multi Academy Award winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy – set to direct one of the new Star Wars trilogy movies – will open ISE 2024 on January 30

Integrated Systems Europe has announced that the opening keynote speech at ISE 2024 will be given by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, a multi Academy Award winning filmmaker. She will speak about the importance of storytelling and how technology is transforming lives.

Storytelling is fundamentally linked to the AV industry and influences every element of ISE 2024, according to the organisers. “Almost every facet of the AV landscape is driven by storytelling – including immersive experiences at visitor attractions, inspirational presentations by corporate leaders, and compelling advertising campaigns delivered over digital signage,” a press announcement enthused.

Obaid-Chinoy won the Oscar for Best Documentary, Short Subject for her films Saving Face and A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness. The second of these addressed the difficult topic of honour killings in her native Pakistan, and was instrumental in bringing about a change in the law there.

Following a move to narrative filmmaking, she directed two episodes of the Marvel TV series Ms. Marvel, which featured the MCU’s first Muslim character. Earlier this year she was named as the director of one of the next series of three Star Wars films, due for release in 2026.

The ISE 2024 Opening Keynote will take place at 1715 on Tuesday 30 January on the ISE Show Floor Stage. Admission is free and advance booking is not required.
