ABTT Theatre Show records another strong performance

The 33rd ABTT Theatre Show – which took place in London last week – received a visitor total that was in line with last year’s record attendance and 15% up on previous years.

The 33rd ABTT Theatre Show – which took place in London last week – received a visitor total that was in line with last year’s record attendance and 15% up on previous years.

More than 100 exhibiting companies participated in the event. The dates for next year’s show – 13/14 June at the same venue, the Royal Horticultural Halls – have already been confirmed.

Show director Roger Fox commented: “The ABTT Theatre Show’s success is attributed to its compact footprint, un-intimidating atmosphere and a specialist visitor base. The Show covers the spectrum of products and services for the theatre production and staging market, with a strong showing from the engineering sector, but also from the sound and lighting fraternity. It provides the only platform for architects and consultants to learn about new technical innovation in auditoria.

“ We’re thrilled to have held our position with visitors and exhibitors alike. Despite the heavy downpours we maintained the quality of the visitors and presented a show that was typically packed with innovation. The dedicated seminar programme and our annual Awards were boosted by support from JELF Insurance and our aim is to create an even better event in 2012.”

Speaking of the Awards, categories winners included Global Design Solutions (Lighting Product of the Year for The Arc LED Houselight System), Shure (Sound Product of the Year for Axient wireless microphone system), Stage Technologies (Engineering Product of the Year for CH:i chain hoist intelligence system), Edge Safe (Widget of the Year for Edge Safe), Hoist UK (ABTT Theatre Show Stand of the Year; honourable mentions went to Sparkes Theatrical and RB Health and Safety), and Alex Hitchcock from Stage Technologies (Technician of the Year).

The Awards ceremony concluded with a collection for the First Night Riders, which are currently in the midst of a UK theatre tour to raise money for the Theatrical Guild.
