The SDVoE Alliance, a non-profit group standardising Ethernet protocols for pro AV signal transport, has expanded its SDVoE Academy with two new certification tracks – Video Basics and Networking Basics.
These courses are designed to provide AV professionals with core knowledge in video technology and IT networking, helping bridge the gap between AV and IT and supporting development in AVoIP system design and deployment.
The Video Basics Certification provides a comprehensive introduction to video fundamentals, covering key concepts relevant to video distribution over Ethernet and modern AV system deployment. Meanwhile, the Networking Basics Certification focuses on core networking principles such as Ethernet, IP addressing, switching, and transport protocols like TCP and UDP, with an emphasis on building reliable, scalable AV networks.
The SDVoE Academy already serves a wide audience with over 6,000 students and 120 courses delivered. The addition of these entry-level tracks aims to extend its educational reach to designers, integrators, manufacturers, and end users seeking foundational skills.
Stephane Tremblay, president of the SDVoE Alliance, said: “Our goal with the SDVoE Academy has always been to empower audiovisual professionals with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. These new certification tracks make critical video and networking concepts accessible to everyone, bridging the gap between AV and IT and ensuring our community is prepared for the challenges of converged environments.”
