Bosch DCN for new VIC annex

The new annex at the Vienna International Center (VIC) has been equipped with Bosch Security Systems conferencing, evacuation and PA solutions.

The new annex at the Vienna International Center (VIC) has been equipped with Bosch Security Systems conferencing, evacuation and PA solutions.

Regarded as the third most important office of the UN after New York and Geneva, the VIC (or UNO City) is used by organisations such as UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) and the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency).

For the extensive conferencing facilities in the new annex, known as VIC M, the Center’s management engaged PKE Electronics AG to install Bosch’s DCN Next Generation Conference and Simultaneous Interpretation System and Integrus Digital Infrared Language Distribution System.

In total, 744 DCN Next Generation Concentus units, 102 Interpreter desks and 1935 Integrus infrared receivers were installed in the various meeting rooms. All of the meeting rooms were also equipped with Bosch AutoDome cameras that automatically visualise the speaking delegate on the projector screen and the monitors of the interpreters.

The Praesideo system was selected to handle VA/PA requirements, operating in conjunction with a sound system featuring Bosch XLA line array loudspeakers. The system features one network controller, 25 Praesideo 500W Power Amplifiers, four multi-channel interfaces and 24 basic amplifiers.

Thomas Leonard, product manager congress systems at Bosch Security Systems, told IE: “The conference system for the new Vienna International Center was a great challenge for Bosch and the system integrator PKE Electronics AG. The request was to implement a multiroom conference system which gives the possibility to realise nearly fully automatic switching between different room combinations and the general conference hall. This not only [implied] the switching of up to 800 delegate units; the DCN NG automatic camera control and the Integrus infrared language distribution had to follow these different combinations [as well].”
