Samsung videowalls for London cable car terminal

The terminal for London's first cable car – The Emirates Air Line – now features Samsung UD Series large-format displays.

Samsung Electronics has installed six videowalls at the newly opened Emirates Air Line, London’s first cable car. The videowalls comprise Samsung’s UD Series Large Format Display (LFD) screens and are being used by scheme sponsor Emirates to show content to passengers as they enter and alight the cabins that cross the River Thames between the Emirates Royal Docks and Emirates Greenwich Peninsula terminals.

Two Samsung 3 x 3 landscape UD55 screens at the terminal entrances, two 3 x 2 portrait 46 screens at the gate lines and two 8 x 3 Portrait UD55 screens at platform level make up the videowalls at both terminals. The platform videowalls were installed on curved walls and the project was delivered over a three-month period by Samsung’s Advantage Plus partner, Pioneer Group, also responsible for ongoing management of the products. Phil Gaut, general manager, display, Samsung UK and Ireland, commented: “The Emirates Air Line can carry more than 2,000 passengers an hour giving us the unique opportunity to showcase our leading-edge videowalls to a huge audience of British as well as international passengers over the busy summer period and beyond. This is a very exciting partnership for us.”
