Sony display solutions helps Deloitte build the world’s most sustainable office

Sony display solutions are playing a major part in The Edge, which has been named as the most sustainable and innovative office in the world.

Sony display solutions are playing a major part in a workplace that has been named as the most sustainable and innovative office in the world. The building in question is The Edge – a landmark office building for leading corporate entity Deloitte located in the heart of the economic and financial centre of The Netherlands – which opened in November 2014.

AV solutions installed the building faced a double requirement – to be at the cutting edge of technology and to espouse green values. And, of course, they needed to be user-friendly for the 1,000+ employees there.

Systems integrator AVEX has a long history with Deloitte, and understood that delivering engaging visual communications would require 4K image resolution. In addition to its 4K solution needs, Deloitte wanted solutions that had the highest picture quality, were energy efficient, and offered application versatility from presentations to digital signage. AVEX recommended Sony as its the only manufacturer able to deliver a complete line-up of 4K professional displays with HTML5 and IP Control.

As an existing Sony customer, Deloitte was already impressed by Sony’s full line-up of 4K Displays and end-to-end solutions. When Deloitte moved onto its flagship project the reliable operation and cost-effectiveness offered by Sony’s 4K projectors and displays – as well as the energy efficiency of the 4K displays – were just some of the reasons Sony was selected by Deloitte.

Over 100 BRAVIA 4K LED professional displays some including U-Touch overlay technology were installed in The Edge’s meeting rooms. This included 13 85in FWD-85X8600P, 20 55in FWD-55X8600P and, 65 65in FWD-65X8600P displays.

The HTML5 capability of the professional monitors made it easy for Deloitte to create stunning digital signage – quickly, efficiently and at a low cost. The BRAVIA 4K displays are also very easy to install and simple to manage, from standalone signage to large multi-screen applications.

In addition, Deloitte opted to install the 4K SRX-T615 projector for visualisation and simulation applications in its presentation/auditorium room. The 18,000-lumen model projects bright, consistent, high-contrast 4K images, and is said to offer flexible and easy installation and exceptional operating versatility. Features that impressed Deloitte include interleaved lamp control for longer-life, fail-safe operation.

Sony also supplied 29 video security cameras used to secure the premises of the modern Deloitte facilities. Sony installed 17 SNC-DH280 and 12 SNC-CH280 video security cameras from the V-Series line. Both models are high definition, day-to-night, IR outdoor cameras that provide outstanding picture quality and event detection for effective evidence gathering.

The equipment installation and integration by AVEX was very smooth, with zero errors occurring on move-in day. The AV solutions not only helped Deloitte achieve its objective of innovation, it also led to the company receiving a BREEAM certification of ‘Outstanding’ and being named the most innovative and sustainable building in the world.

“The Deloitte office is certified as the most innovative and sustainable office in the world,” said Erik Ubels, director of information technology & workplace at Deloitte Netherlands. “The office even knows individuals’ light and temperature preference. Our aim was to make The Edge the best place to work. It is an honour to have Sony, a very important client, working with us.”

“To be part of one of the most innovative and sustainable buildings in the world is an honour,” said Rutger Schaap, channel account manager, Sony Professional Presentation & Communication Group Netherlands. “Our partnership with Deloitte for this project at The Edge is the perfect example of Sony’s passion for technology and dedication to providing marketing leading technologies to our customers.”

Sam Beesems, audiovisual coordinator technology & workplace services at Deloitte Netherlands, added: “We are constantly trying to innovate and deploy new things. What we meant to do was to set up several AV pillars, one of them being 4K. We are currently looking at opening our own in-house studio so we can actively deliver 4K content to employees and customers and we expect 4K to be fully adopted throughout Deloitte Netherlands within the next two years.”
