Pro Sound Awards 2014: Funktion One’s chill pill

Industry award shows offer more than an opportunity for companies to pat themselves on the back for a job well done or, conversely, shed a tear and look on jealously as a staunch competitor takes to the stage. Next month’s Pro Sound Awards 2014 will enable Best Permanent Installation nominee, Funktion One, “to carve out a little time for reflection, even when you’re up to your neck in it,” according to company director Ann Andrews.

Funktion One has been nominated for its Electric Paris project, which gives the company a shot at being crowned Pro Sound Award winners for two consecutive years. It picked up the Permanent Installation Project of the Year award at the last year’s inaugural awards for its work at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games.

On being nominated again for this year’s awards, Andrews commented: “It wasn’t a complete surprise, of course, but it’s always pleasing when people like what you’re doing. Our customers are involved in a wide range of installations, so we knew we’d have some interesting projects to talk about.”

This year, on 25 September, London’s world-class Ministry of Sound will play host to a night of drinking and commendation which will be preceded by ‘The Pre-Roll’ – a new feature of the event encompassing two hours of conversation and panel discussion with leading lights of the industry.

Sennheiser is main sponsor of the event. Other sponsorship opportunities are still available – for more information please contact [email protected]
