Optoma reveals new ambient light rejecting projection screen

Optoma has unveiled the ALR100 ambient light rejecting front projector screen for the home entertainment market ahead of a summer of sport, which will include the Olympic Games and UEFA Euro championships.

The 100in fixed frame projection screen has been designed to operate to a high level even in brightly lit rooms. The specialised screen surface actively reflects a projected image for high contrast and solid colour saturation, while preventing ambient light from washing out the picture.

Joe Ahmed, head of marketing at Optoma EMEA commented: “We are excited to unveil our new ambient light rejecting screen. When coupled with our ultra short throw projectors, the solution delivers an exceptional 100in full HD image to meet the ever increasing demands for a big screen display, even in bright ambient lighting conditions.”

The ALR100 works best in combination with UST projectors such as Optoma’s GT5500 and GT5000 models. These produce an image that fills the 100in ALR100 screen size with the projector placed just 30cm away.

The ALR100’s 0.42 gain provides wide viewing angles from any seating position and it also enables deeper black levels for fine details in darker scenes, even with the lights on.
