Skandal! a newly opened nightclub located in the Turkish city of Istanbul has been equipped with an L-Acoustics coaxial loudspeaker system. Run in-part by resident DJ Metehan Çorumluoglu, aka DJ Style-ist, Skandal! has twin themes based on late-’70s cultures of New Wave and disco, and is said to have diversified the Istanbul club scene. Turkish distributor Elite Light&Sound Technologies supplied the venue with seven L-Acoustics 8XTi coaxial speakers from L-Acoustics’ Architectural Series for installers. The system included two 108P coaxials and two SB18i fixed installation subwoofers, powered by two LA4 amplifier. “The L-Acoustics system is the strongest aspect of Skandal!” said Çorumluoglu. “The DJs who’ve performed at the venue are so pleased with the sound of the new cabinets so far, and our clientele can also be heard talking about club’s sound quality with open admiration.” With the assistance of the audio setup for L-Acoustics – which recently released a second generation of line source speakers – Skandal! is already said to be taking its place in the Istanbul Nightlife scene, offering weekend programmes consisting of a range of local and international DJs. www.l-acoustics.com
