Daktronics has partnered with Wake Forest University, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to design, manufacture and install one of the largest volleyball-specific displays in the US, featuring more than 2.6m pixels to deliver high-definition imagery and graphics.
The new display will measure 15ft high by 28ft wide and feature a 3.9mm pixel spacing to deliver clear imagery to fans in every seat.

The agreement is with the university’s Wake Forest Athletics society and the equipment will be integrated into the 235,000sqft Varsity Arena for the university’s Demon Deacons volleyball programme. The new LED video display, ribbon display and three scorers tables will be installed on the baseline brick wall closest to the home bench ahead of the upcoming fall 2025 season.
The display features variable content zoning allowing it to show one large image or to be divided into multiple zones of content, including live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics and game information, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.
The ribbon display will be mounted to the balcony and measures more than 15ft high by 18ft wide. Each scorer’s table will measure roughly 2.5ft high by 10ft wide. They can be moved to any configuration to meet the needs of Wake Forest Athletics and the events it hosts. These four displays also feature 3.9mm pixel spacing and provide the opportunity to share additional game information, graphics and sponsorship messaging throughout events.
Jeff Hulsmeyer, head volleyball coach, Wake Forest, said: “The new video board will transform our game-day experience, allowing us to showcase the players and excitement of Wake Forest volleyball like never before.”
Corey Williams, sales representative, Daktronics, added: “The new main video display will be among the largest in a volleyball-only venue and the addition of the tables and ribbon will add to an already great game-day experience for Demon Deacon fans.”
