Belgian club moves with Robe

Versuz nightclub in Hasselt, Belgium, which attracts clientele from the Netherlands, France, Germany and Belgium, has installed a large moving light rig from Czech-Republic lighting manufacturer, Robe. A further three custom elliptical truesses were deployed in the ceiling space by Belgian automation and motion control specialist Wicreations.

The main rig features 1400 moving lights from Robe, making it one of the company’s largest projects to date.

The owners of the 3000-capacity venue wanted a fully flexible solution allowing the whole shape and feel of the club to be transformed with lighting and visual effects.

Wicreations was enlisted to design and realise the moving structures. The team there had the luxury of 11m headroom to play with in the main room.

“I wanted something that had real impact and was completely different to anything else seen in Benelux,” explained Yves Smolders, one of the club’s three owners. The same approach informed his choice of lighting fixtures.

Robe’s Benelux distributor Controllux was called upon to supply the equipment for the installation. Installed in the main room at Versuz are 38 Robe ROBIN Pointes, along with 30 ROBIN MMX WashBeams, as well as 24 ROBIN LEDWash 300s, and eight ROBIN LEDWash 600s. These are complemented by eight ROBIN 600E Spots, four ROBIN DLXs and 30 ClubScan 250s.

“Everyone I dealt with at Robe was extremely knowledgeable, they took a genuine interest in the project, and I have had fantastic support,” commented Smolders.

The Pointes were specifically recommended by the venue’s main Light Operator Nils Berens who is well known on the Benelux club scene. “The Pointes are fast, very bright and perfect for the club,” confirmed Smolders.
