Analog Way adds ARTIS scaling to VIO 4K

Analog Way has released a new version of the VIO 4K 'all-in-one' signal converter, featuring its new ARTIS scaling technology.

Analog Way has released a new version of the VIO 4K ‘all-in-one’ signal converter, featuring its new ARTIS scaling technology. Also available is loop-through on the DVI, HD15 and HDMI inputs, as well as the capability to import or export device configuration. These features are also available as a firmware upgrade to existing VIO 4K models.

ARTIS has been developed to allow smart scaling. This new algorithm-based up- or downscaling engine is said to deliver unparalleled image quality for all resolutions. Whether scaling an image up to 4K or zooming into a specific area of an image, ARTIS has been engineered to accurately preserve every element of the original source and to reduce pixellation and artefacts. According to Analog Way, this new technology guarantees crisp images and vivid colours while maintaining ultra-low processing latency. In addition, the operator can choose between three sharpness levels.

ARTIS does not require a hardware upgrade. Any existing VIO 4K device can be upgraded to firmware revision 1.20.19 in order to benefit from these improvements.

In addition to the already available SDI active loop-through, loop mode can now be enabled on the HD15, DVI or HDMI output plug, turning it into an unscaled loop-through of the corresponding input. It also enables a local monitor to be easily connected, or a video signal to be routed to another device. Loop mode enables the same content to be processed simultaneously by various devices. The set-up is simplified, since routing the signal from one device to another requires only a cable and not a splitter. This enhancement is also available on the v1.20.19 firmware upgrade.

Operators can now quickly and easily import and export partial or full configuration of the VIO 4K, including all settings and presets, by selecting which categories to export. Export or import can be achieved either directly from the front panel menu or by via the Web RCS interface, using the device’s internal storage, a USB key or the user’s computer disk. Whether for a simple back-up or a large event where the configuration needs to be duplicated to many VIO 4K devices, this feature is a valuable time-saver.
