Lightware has introduced several new AV solutions for education environments, including the Gemini GVN USB-C variant, aimed at seminar rooms, classrooms, teacher stations and small collaboration rooms requiring quick USB-C laptop connection. The company has also launched Rack Taurus, bringing the Taurus UCX experience into a 1RU rack-based form factor for lecterns, AV racks and centralised installations in larger shared rooms, aimed at simplifying deployment and servicing.
The new GPIO-Button adds tactile “press-to-action” control when connected to compatible Lightware devices with GPIO ports, with actions configured in LARA. For larger lecture halls, divisible teaching rooms, auditoriums and multi-building campuses, Lightware’s TPN Ecosystem provides centrally managed SDVoE-based 10G AV-over-IP, enhanced by the TPN-MMU for discovery, configuration and monitoring across endpoints including Taurus TPN, HDMI-TPN and HDMI-OPTN.
Alongside these product developments, Lightware offers a Grant Programme allowing schools, colleges and universities to apply for access to its technology, and a LEAD Program providing partners with consultancy, project design assistance, proof-of-concept demonstrations and technical training. The company’s Lightware Academy offers free, ProAV-certified e-learning covering traditional AV, AVoIP and room automation, with selected courses eligible for AVIXA points and now available with subtitles in 12 languages.
At Leiden University’s Campus Spui in The Hague, Taurus UCX solutions have been deployed across lecture halls, classrooms, offices and study areas, using Dante-enabled UCX units in larger lecture halls and hybrid classrooms and standard UCX units in conventional classrooms and smaller spaces. The platform allows lecturers and students to connect laptops with 4K video, audio, control signals and power delivered over a single USB-C connection.
