ISE 2019 will see a demonstration of the largest Sony Crystal LED display system to have been shown in Europe. The display sports bezel-less technology delivering an 8K x 4K resolution, and better than 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio display that is viewable from a 180° viewing angle.
With 10-bit colour depth, wide colour gamut and a maximum rate of 120 frames per second, Sony’s Crystal LED display features brightness of up to 1,000 cd/m2. The display also supports HDR, offering what the company says is an even more immersive viewing experience.
Crystal LED displays are created from 320 x 360 ZRD1 modules that measure 403mm x 453m x 100mm and weigh 10kg each. Each ZRD-1 features a matrix of surface-mounted red/green/blue Ultrafine LED elements, each measuring less than 0.003sqmm. This allows 99% of the display’s area to be completely black which, according to Sony, enhances contrast ratio when compared with conventional surface-mount displays.
Designed for automotive, retail, corporate lobbies, showrooms and entertainment environments like theme parks, gaming/eSports and cinemas, Sony says it has already seen uptake for the system across Europe
