Conference programme reflects ISE attendance trends

ISE 2020 features no fewer than 14 conferences, featuring expert speakers and presenters across a wide range of vertical markets

ISE 2020’s biggest-ever conference programme is produced by ISE, its co-owning associations AVIXA and CEDIA, and selected media partners. The diversity of subjects covered reflects the increasing proportion of AV end-users among ISE’s attendees.

Two conferences returning in 2020 following a successful launch at ISE 2019 are the Digital Cinema Summit ISE (DCS) on the afternoon of Wednesday 12 February, and the Hospitality Tech Summit ISE by HTNG (HTS) on Thursday 13 February. Both conferences are taking place at the Hotel Okura.

Chaired by Nick Dager, Editor and Publisher of Digital Cinema Report, DCS takes as its theme ‘The Changing Cineplex’. It will explore how new digital cinema technology, as well as changes in the content landscape, are driving the evolution of the cinema exhibition industry.

Following a market overview keynote, a panel on ‘Cinema Advertising and Event Cinema’ will look at the opportunities that new technology is giving movie theatres to develop new revenues streams including gaming and Esports as well as advertising and event cinema.  Later in the afternoon, another panel will discuss ‘Are Movies Still the Focus of the Cinexplex?’ With cineplexes offering online games in the lobby, plus restaurants, bowling alleys even karaoke bars, what role, if any, do serious feature films play in the mix?

Presented by hospitality industry group HTNG and AVIXA, HTS will explore how evolving technologies can benefit the hospitality industry by streamlining the guest experience, helping to develop new revenue streams, or reducing costs. The panel session ‘Are Panels Prepared to Play’ will discuss how hotels can adapt their business models to new guest room entertainment strategies, while other sessions will look at the management of guest identity – one of the keys to a frictionless customer journey – and reinventing the check-in process. The keynote, by futurist (and XR Summit chair) Amelia Kallman, will discuss ‘XR and the Future of Hospitality’.

Also on the agenda are an update on trends in AV, a presentation of HTNG-AVIXA research on AV and IP convergence, and sessions on experiential audio and creating a more connected, smoother travel experience.
