Alcorn McBride introduces Harkless

About to celebrate 30 years in business, Alcorn McBride − which provides the AV technology behind many of the world’s most prestigious theme parks and other leisure venues − is at ISE 2016 to showcase its range of solutions.

According to Scott Harkless, the company’s director of sales, the themed entertainment market continues to grow, notably in Asia, although there are ambitious plans afoot in North America to create a number of sizeable new blockbuster movie-themed attractions following the success of, for example, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Harkless is introducing ISE visitors to, among other things, the company’s new A/V Binloop Uncompressed – a name that, Harkless smiled, speaks for itself.

It is designed to deliver high quality 4:4:4 uncompressed playback at up to 60fps, supporting up to eight channels of 2K or two channels of 4K. These channels can be played independently from one another, or grouped together for frame-accurate synchronous playback. Audio and video cards can be mixed to deliver any combination of playback. Timecode input/output and Genlock input are also featured.

“Unlike most commercial video devices, the A/V Binloop Uncompressed provides a native resolution source to each display device and can perfectly synchronise multiple display devices,” Harkless said. “This makes it the perfect solution for video wall and blended projection applications because it eliminates the loss of quality due to stretching commonly seen in traditional video wall controllers or video processors. For large applications, it’s easy to sync multiple units using the product’s Genlock input feature.”
