AGORA to spotlight world-class stadium technology

Expanded to a full day for ISE 2020 and broadened in scope, the AGORA sports venue technology conference will feature behind-the-scenes insights experts involved in some of the world's leading stadium technology projects

The conference, which returns to ISE following its launch last year, is produced by MONDO | STADIA and chaired by the title’s Editor, Sam Hughes. He commented: “As we’re now a full-day conference, we’ve made it our aim to cover much more this time around, with a focus on all aspects of sporting venues, from design and architecture, right through to cutting edge technology that delivers an incredible fan experience.”

Conference attendees can hear expert speakers from a whole host of clubs, venues and companies, including FC Bayern Munich, FC Barcelona, Ascot Racecourse, KSS Architects, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Norway Football Federation and many more.

Benjamin Steen, Head of Customer Care, Digital Licensing & Stadium, has been working for more than 15 years at FC Bayern Munich. Since 2014, he has been responsible for Customer Care & CRM, as well as the digitisation of the Allianz Arena. He led the Allianz Arena into the digital age, making it ready for the next generation of fans and visitors – a fascinating journey which he will share during AGORA.

Didac Lee, Board Member and Head of Digital Area at FC Barcelona, will deliver a keynote speech at AGORA detailing the club’s new content strategy and strategic projects linked to entertainment within the stadium and beyond, which aims to generate engagement and connect with new audiences globally.

One of the most groundbreaking venues to be opened during the past year, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is a key focus for AGORA 2020. On the panel will be representatives from Daktronics and HARMAN, who will share on insight on how the audiovisual technology has helped make the club’s new home more than just a football ground.

eSports is a lucrative and growing industry. An expert panel will discuss the value of this new revenue stream and how clubs, federations and stadiums plan to expand within it. Trev Keane, Head of Sport and eSports at Fansly Ventures, will chair the panel, which includes Mats Theie Bretvik, Head of eSports & Gaming, Norway Football Federation; Russell Jones, Head of Marketing, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC; and Scott Millar, Technical Director, Longer Days Ltd.

Amsterdam’s Johan Cruijff ArenA has become one of the most innovative, sustainable stadiums in the world. Representatives from the venue and d&b audiotechnik will explain how this transformation has been achieved.

Another renowned venue that is currently involved in a complete technological revamp is Ascot Racecourse. Head of Technology George Vaughan will explain Ascot’s Smart City aspirations before welcoming the likes of Bose, UtterBerry, Kappture and Looking Glass for an exclusive Q&A session on the technology involved.

“We’ve got an unrivalled line-up of speakers this year and I can’t wait to welcome ISE 2020 attendees to AGORA,” said Hughes.
