Wisycom and DPA support Pope Leo XIV’s Spain visit

Wireless and microphone technology, including the MCR54 receivers and 4098 Gooseneck Microphones, deployed for a week of liturgical events across mainland Spain and the Canary Islands

Wisycom wireless systems and DPA Microphones’ 4098 Gooseneck Microphones supported audio production for Pope Leo XIV’s recent week-long visit to Spain, distributed in the country by SeeSound. The technologies supported a schedule of liturgical celebrations, public appearances and institutional events, with the final stages of the visit taking place in Gran Canaria and Tenerife, where local broadcaster Hi Vision handled coverage across the Canary Islands.

For the Canary Islands leg, engineers relied on a Wisycom wireless ecosystem built around the brand’s MCR54 multichannel receivers, MTP60 bodypack transmitters and MTH610 handheld transmitters, alongside its RPU500 full duplex reporter system, MTK982 in-ear transmitters and MPR60 receivers for monitoring throughout the event.

For Pope Leo XIV’s addresses, the production used DPA’s 4098 Gooseneck Microphones, chosen for spoken-word applications where intelligibility is a priority and for their immunity to RF interference in dense broadcast environments.

Lluc Torres, broadcast division product manager at SeeSound, said: “Events of this scale demand absolute confidence in every part of the signal chain. Whether you’re focused on wireless RF performance or speech intelligibility, there simply isn’t an opportunity for a second take. The technology must work flawlessly from the first moment to the last.”

Torres added: “The system was selected for its ability to deliver dependable RF performance while supporting the flexibility required for a production to operate across multiple venues and changing environments. Stable wireless operation was essential, not only for live speeches, but also for the coordinated production workflows that took place behind the scenes.”

SeeSound, the Spanish distributor for both DPA Microphones and Wisycom, also specified solutions from Adamson, DirectOut and VOKKERO for the visit.
