Tannoy adds to CMS range

The CMS 1201DC large-format, in-ceiling speaker is designed to complement the existing CMS range for ballrooms, shopping malls, sports halls, airports and other high ceiling installations.

The CMS 1201DC large-format, in-ceiling speaker is designed to complement the existing CMS range for ballrooms, shopping malls, sports halls, airports and other high ceiling installations.

Built around the latest evolution of the high-powered 12in dual-concentric point source driver, the CMS 1201DC is said to deliver even bandwidth and pattern control over a wide frequency range.

The new drive assembly incorporates a treated mid-bass cone and double-rolled cambric surround for improved sensitivity, together with a 1.34in aluminium dome with a ferrofluid-cooled neodymium magnet assembly and a newly designed waveguide for the high-frequency unit.

According to Tannoy, the two drivers merge seamlessly into one with the HF unit mounted in the throat of the mid-bas driver, aligning both transducers to a point source and providing a “very controlled” 90º coverage area – even at the highest octaves.

As with all Tannoy speakers, the CMS 1201DC can accommodate a wide variety of applications using Ease Address design software, which calculates optimum spacing and performance using simple parameters.
