The venue has a long association with Soundcraft, and two years ago it purchased a 32-channel MH3 from distributor Audio Equipment to mix monitors. Coming right up to date, Audio Equipment recommended the Vi6 for the main FOH position because the three house technicians are from the analogue school and only one day’s training was required. The console can also be used for recording performances using an RME MADI interface and Pro Tools.
Console features said to have been praised by the venue include the number of inputs (64) and the mic preamp section. “But beyond that they really love the Vistonics surface – you can see 32 strip icons at all times – and the compact size and the colour co-ordination of the knobs; the possibility of being able to use two people on the interface is great,” said Audio Equipment’s Danilo Meroni.
The next stage of upgrade work will involve the replacement of the entire analogue matrix system with fibre.
