NEXO’s ID Series column speakers have been installed at the Théâtre des Variétés in Béziers, southern France, as part of a broader restoration of the listed 1904 venue.
Pairs of ID84 column speakers have been mounted on the stage frame and in the first-floor balcony, with NEXO IDS312 and L15 subwoofers deployed respectively at each position. NEXO’s ID14 compact speakers serve as under-balcony fills and stage monitors. The system is powered by pairs of NXAMP4X1Mk2 and NXAMP4X2Mk2 powered TD controllers.
The project was led by scenography and AV technology specialists Scenarchie, with system installation carried out by stage equipment specialists TEXEN. With the building’s historical status requiring technology to be as unobtrusive as possible, the team selected white-finished speakers from NEXO’s ID Series to blend with the interior.
The ID84 measures 1m in height and features eight 4-inch drivers alongside an array of dome tweeters on a curved baffle, which the company says results in low distortion and extended frequency response. A directivity switch on the rear panel allows instant switching of vertical HF dispersion. The speaker is designed to deliver long throw and consistent coverage.
Stéphane Brocard, French sales manager at NEXO, said: “Once again, the ID84 and ID Series demonstrate their ability to blend discreetly into historically significant locations while ensuring impressive sound quality and uniformity of coverage.”
