HK Audio’s COSMO system took centre stage at this year’s Turnpike Reggae Festival in Herzebrock‑Clarholz, in Germany, where production supplier MA Holtewert expanded its core HK Audio setup to improve audience coverage and add greater low‑frequency impact. The two‑day event returned in mid‑August with a programme spanning roots reggae, modern reggae and dancehall.
Working with HK Audio, MA Holtewert added four CS 218 and four CF 118 subwoofers to its established COSMO rig, using all‑pass filters and flown subs to achieve consistent coverage across the audience area. The full system combined 12 COSMO C 10 and eight C 6 mid/high units, supported by CONTOUR X CX 210 frontfills and CX 12 stage monitors.
Karel Noon, application support engineer, said: “Turnpike is completely run by volunteers, which gives it a really familiar, welcoming atmosphere. One of the most exciting moments this year was when Joel ‘Kush’ Brown joined headliner Dr. Ring Ding on stage.”
The additional subs provided the extra weight needed for reggae’s characteristic low‑end, while the wider system ensured even coverage throughout the field.
Turnpike also highlighted HK Audio’s close relationship with regional rental partners. Noon added: “This festival clearly shows where HK Audio is strong – medium‑sized shows, regional rental companies and being there to support and help wherever we’re needed around the world.”
