Mahajak Development Co. recently outfitted the Park Hyatt Bangkok hotel with an end-to-end Harman audio solution to deliver high quality sound and control throughout the entire facility.
Opened in 2017, Park Hyatt Bangkok is a five-star luxury hotel in the heart of downtown Bangkok. The 36-storey building contains 222 guest rooms, including 32 spacious suites, with contemporary interior design and traditional Thai accents. The hotel’s grand ballroom accommodates up to 600 guests for weddings and other large events, and features five attached salon-style dressing rooms. Other amenities include multiple restaurants and bars, numerous meeting and event spaces, a saltwater infinity pool and a fully-equipped fitness centre. To enhance the guest experience with world-class sound throughout the facility, Park Hyatt Bangkok hired Mahajak Development Co. to install a complete Harman audio system comprised of JBL loudspeakers, Crown amplifiers and Soundcraft mixing consoles.
“Mahajak was responsible for supplying and integrating a seamless, comprehensive AV system into the hotel space, covering all the levels from the basement to level 36,” said Pongsakorn Kanchanachayphoom, director of project, at Mahajak Development Co. “It included the public areas, meeting rooms, bridal rooms, ballrooms, a spa, fitness space and an expansive restaurant. To complete this enormous project, many contractors worked in different areas of the hotel simultaneously. We faced multiple challenges while dismantling and reinstalling equipment that was previously installed, but the client showed great confidence in our team and the Harman Professional products. This allowed us to overcome the challenges and complete the project in a timely and satisfactory manner.”
Mahajak utilised JBL Control Series in-ceiling loudspeakers throughout Park Hyatt Bangkok to deliver maximum clarity and coverage without interfering with the building’s aesthetics. The Control 14C/T and 16C/T models employ 4in and 6.5in coaxial drivers to deliver precise sound reproduction in a compact form factor. Both models feature a pre-attached blind-mount back can for quick and easy installation. Their low-profile, paintable baffles blend in seamlessly with the hotel’s décor. Mahajak also deployed JBL Control 328C loudspeakers, which deliver 45 Hz-18 kHz frequency response with 8in drivers. 250W power handling and 93dB of sensitivity ensures high SPL capability and headroom. All loudspeakers used in the installation provide consistent 120° coverage.
Amplification is provided by Crown XTi 1002 amplifiers, which deliver ample power and headroom while protecting loudspeakers with advanced Peakx Plus limiters. Updated HiQnet System Architect software provides advanced control and easy system configuration. To facilitate high-quality sound for events at the hotel, Mahajak also installed Soundcraft LX7ii-32 and LX7ii-16 analogue mixing consoles. The LX7ii mixers’ GB30 preamps and equalisers ensure clear reproduction of speech and music, while their streamlined layout makes it easy for event staff to provide excellent sound.
