GIK Acoustics has installed more than 50 acoustic treatment panels across studios and teaching spaces at Abbey Road Institute London, as part of a partnership designed to give music production students practical experience of professional studio acoustics.
The installation covers several production suites, two Tech Labs, the Angel Two student studio and commercial studio Angel One, creating controlled listening environments for recording, mixing, production and critical listening.
With the Institute’s production suites and larger Tech Labs located in existing regularly shaped rooms, controlling reflections between parallel walls was a key requirement. GIK specified a combination of FlexRange Bass Traps at 90Hz and 70Hz, Corner Bass Traps and Amplitude 80Hz diffusion front panels.
The diffusion panels are designed to create a more randomised reflection pattern, helping to provide more controlled acoustic conditions across the rooms.
The partnership also includes educational workshops delivered by GIK specialists covering acoustic design for home and professional studios. The sessions are intended to give students a practical understanding of how acoustic treatment can be used to create accurate and consistent production environments.

Abbey Road Institute London is based at Angel Recording Studios in Islington and also has dedicated studio space at Abbey Road. Its facilities include training, recording and production spaces for students alongside commercial studio facilities used for music, film and television projects.
