The Black Diamond – a concert hall at the Royal Library in Copenhagen – is using ETC Source Fours with enhanced definition lens tube (EDLT). Purchased as part of an ongoing project to equip the venue with ETC equipment, the venue found that it could mount the two new luminaires in front of the backdrop and project a Rosco Fiery Sun gobo for a bright, precise effect.
The new set design will be applied to a wide variety of events, including concerts, corporate events and private hires.
The Black Diamond technician Søren Jacobsen commented: “I have worked with sound for over 25 years, but it’s only in the past three years that I have started working in lighting. Our local ETC dealer, Bico Professionel, has been really useful in helping me select the products I need and assisting with design and set up of the systems. We only needed a couple ETC Source Fours equipped with a 36º EDLT to provide a stunning effect. We projected the light from the front at a 10m distance: 45º horizontal and 30º vertical. There was a little distortion in the middle, but nothing significant. The producer and musicians were incredibly impressed.”
Hans Henrik Schmidt, sales consultant with Bico, adds: “After I showed Søren the ETC EDLTs at PLASA, he was very eager to try the lenses together with Rosco prismatic gobos. He realised that the combination could give some fantastic effects, and I think that he has done a great job with a few very effective tools.”
According to ETC, the EDLT can turn any Source Four into “a superior image projector” with crisp, high contrast imaging and “the most brightness available”.
Invited to consider the overall Scandinavian market outlook, ETC’s market manager for Europe, Erik Larsen, told IE: “As the financial sector gets back on track, projects are being taken off hold and we’re seeing orders being placed for projects which first came up a couple of years ago. We’re really optimistic and the market in Denmark and across Scandinavia is definitely picking up and we’re looking forward to a busy few years.”
