Duran Audio to show AXYS Beam Shaping Subwoofers

Prolight + Sound 2010 will find the company showcasing the latest development in a long line of beam steering innovations.

Prolight + Sound 2010 will find the company showcasing the latest development in a long line of beam steering innovations. Designed to be totally versatile, scalable and easy to use, the Beam Shaping Subwoofers provide the ability to “achieve maximum control for the minimum of investment”.

This latest development allows DDS processing capability to be brought to standard AXYS boxes – specifically Scope Range 6, Scope Range 2 and Target Range 2 – via software interaction. This provides a level of flexibility that enables them to bring “definition and punch” to the low-end and help users to minimise noise pollution at large outdoor events.

Multiple deployment opportunities – from one sub for a conference, through three for a hypercardoid theatre set-up to huge arrays at an arena concert – are among the other cited benefits.

Max Lindsay-Johnson, who handles international sales & marketing for Duran Audio, told IE: “Duran Audio has been the defining influence in digital steerable speaker arrays; with over 20 years of R&D experience it has led the market in this technology. AXYS Intellivox has become de facto in challenging acoustic environments and is [our] best-known product group. The technologies being utilised within the Intellivox range are equally applicable to Duran’s other AXYS products. It is the technology within these products that Duran intends to focus on in 2010. Utilising their propriety acoustic modelling software, DDA V3, [we] have the ability to digitally steer not only our powered line array system, Target, but also to steer the Bass Arrays in a way that is wholly unique.”

The AXYS Beam Shaping Subwoofers will be on display in Hall 8, Stand D70 at Prolight + Sound.
