Digital display specialist UX Global installs “UK-first” floating LED cube 

Newly opened Footasylum flagship store features more than 50 digital screens and a "UK-first" floating LED cube designed, manufactured and installed by the UX Global team

Digital display specialist UX Global has completed a “groundbreaking” project for its long-standing retail client Footasylum, on London’s Oxford Street. The newly opened flagship store features more than 50 digital screens and a UK-first ‘floating’ LED cube designed, manufactured and installed by the UX Global team.

UX Global, a certified Philips Professional Displays Platinum Partner, worked with the Footasylum team to develop the idea for a 5.5m x 3m 5-sided suspended cube with Philips P2.4 7000 LED screens on all sides, allowing shoppers to view the dynamic content from all angles, including underneath. The cube offers 75 square metres of display space and its installation involved securing over 1,200 individual LED panels to a bespoke frame attached to the main steel beam running through the store, creating the illusion that it is floating.

Other innovations throughout the store include an inset LED ticker display in a seating station; large format screens in the basement; a large corner LED display on the first floor; various LED tickertape signage; 4m wide x 8m high transparent LED screens in each window either side of the entrance door; and floating shoe podiums with four sides of LED displays to showcase the latest footwear.

The digital display solutions come with a flexible cloud-based content management system (CMS) from UX Global’s partner NowSignage, enabling the retailer to londoneasily control and change the content being displayed.

“Our brief from Footasylum was to create a digital store that went beyond any other currently in the UK and on that we certainly delivered!” said Alistair Wright, managing director at UX Global. “The installation works for this mammoth project were carried out over two weeks in September ahead of the new store’s high-profile opening, which saw Footasylum literally ‘light up’ the iconic Oxford Street!

“The project is one of many that we have delivered for the brand this year and we are very excited to be a part of its ambitious expansion journey as it continues to open new stores across the UK. After recently completing Footasylum’s new Lakeside store, the next stop for our digital display team was Footasylum stores in Birmingham Bullring and Watfordwhere we created some exciting, memorable, immersive digital in-store experiences which showcase the exciting brands and products on offer.  We also have Leicester Fosse Park and Leeds White Rose coming up, to complete a great year with the brand.”

UX Global has worked on several other new and existing Footasylum stores across the UK to help bring to life the fashion giant’s vision of an up-to-the-minute immersive shopper experience.
