Control4 in-wall touchscreens – the new generation

The Control4 InfinityEdge home automation interfaces feature edge-to-edge capacitive glass and are available as 5-inch and 7-inch models.

The Control4 InfinityEdge home automation interfaces feature edge-to-edge capacitive glass and are available as 5-inch and 7-inch models.

Billed as a new generation of dedicated in-wall touchcreens, the InfinityEdge products offer intuitive control of lighting, home entertainment, heating, air-conditioning and security systems. Full Control4 OS 2.0 functionality includes a new Flash-based user interface and the ability to access and extend Control4 system capabilities with apps downloaded from the 4Store Application Marketplace, while there is a choice of AC power or Power over Ethernet, wired or Wi-Fi connectivity and four programmable buttons for customised commands. Both models share the same back-box, allowing users to switch to a different model, even at final install.

The new models also feature an optional fully-featured intercom capability, which enables customers to monitor rooms and communicate between individual or multiple rooms fitted with InfinityEdge touchscreens.

Tony Leedham, VP EMEA at Control4, told IE Residential: “The new 5” InfinityEdge touchscreen is our latest user interface to be released and will ship by the end of February. These new panels when upgraded with our Intercom Software provide two-way communication between both 5” and 7” panels. During the second half of the year we will be opening up Intercom integration with Door Stations (both our own and third party) and IP Telephones. This highlights the continued effort we are putting behind the Certified Partner Programme through which we are working with manufacturers to develop drivers, embedded technology and Apps. By developing Apps to allow integration of their product/service, manufacturers can easily reach a wide audience of home owners through the Control4 My Home App Store, where any Control4 user can purchase and download Apps direct to their Control4 Home Automation system.”

European pricing for the new models will be announced at next month’s ISE show in Amsterdam.
