Christie part of historic Network Operating Centre

Romanian AV integrator AVITECH has completed the second phase of an elaborate control room integration for telecommunications company Ericsson. Having installed 24 Christie RPMX-D120 single-chip DLP rear projection modules with 50″ screen and sliding rails, along with a TVC1210 controller, in 2008, AVITECH recently returned to the Network Operating Centre to expand the system having won a new contract against tough competition.

As a result of the installation of a further 32 50in cubes and the relocation of the entire integration to an expanded room, it is claimed that Ericsson’s Romanian HQ now hosts the largest control room in Eastern Europe.

Treating the system expansion like an entirely new project – with all the fresh calibration and programming that entails – AVITECH implemented an architecture based on three separate video walls running XGA resolution: the lateral ones made up of 12 x 2 cubes and the centre one of 4 x 2 cubes, separated by two smaller sets of 2 x 2 47in monitors. The overall 32m (L) x 2.75m (H) display is regarded as one of the largest video walls in Europe.

Extensive experience in control room installations and the ability to provide maintenance services were among the factors that helped secure the latest contract for AVITECH, whose product manager, Iuliu Cristian, praised the close collaboration with Christie that allowed the system to be delivered and installed within 40 days.

“The Christie solutions are generally considered by specialists to be the ‘professionals’ choice’. Their equipment was most appropriate for this project, and besides, we always have a great collaboration with the company,” said Cristian.
