Asheridge Communications has expanded its range of cable and connectors to include fibre optic cable and terminations. The new products are said to be easy, quick and safer to install, and are available in a variety of specifications. The new fibre cables come in single or multi core, and can be bought on the roll, then cut to the required length. No fusion-splicing or polishing is required, says the manufacturer, and the connectors are crimped on to the fibre using inexpensive tools supplied as a part of a starter kit. The kit also includes a jacket stripper, stripping template, crimp tool and crimp connectors.
Asheridge is offering installers who buy the starter kit, free training on how to safely and successfully terminate and test the fibre.
Jason Dando, southern sales manager for Asheridge, said: ìWe have carefully watched fibre become adopted by the AV and CI industry but at the same time also seen installers confused and put off of using fibre by the lack of clear information and product specification availability.
ìWe are making it as easy to buy, install and terminate fibre as it is with our traditional copper coax cables. There is too much myth and ëblack artí surrounding fibre so we have taken the lead with our new range of Easy fibre products. We will be able to supply a fibre product off-the-shelf to suit all of the main AV and CI fibre media requirements,î Dando added
