PSCo opens new Assessment Centre

The new centre allows resellers and their customers to compare displays and videowalls side-by-side.

PSCo Technical Distribution has announced the opening of its Assessment Centre, a newly refitted and refurbished technical resource in Reading, Berkshire, allowing channel partners and their customers to view and test video wall and large-format display products side by side. PSCo says that the new Assessment Centre is a major part of the company’s investment across all its operations, including the development of the Birmingham office which houses its own demonstration facility for partners and customers in the region.

“The Assessment Centre is much more than a conventional demo suite,” said Nico Kamffer, Client Services Director, PSCo Technical Distribution. “Channel partners can get their hands on an array of innovative large-format displays and video walls to run through their ideas with customers, test their content, and make changes and adjustments until they are absolutely confident that they are ready to make the right buying decision. We are a visual business, and believe that customers have a right to road test the products they will be using and see the finished effect before they sign off a purchase.”

PSCo says that the Assessment Centre is able to showcase the broadest portfolio of video wall and large-format displays, control and content technologies under one roof. These include a 29 tile eyevis omniSHAPES 24-inch LED DLP rear projection video wall display. omniSHAPES is being driven by a Matrox Mura multi-display graphics card in a pre-specified PC chassis creating a 3 x HD image.

A 3×3 Orion OPM-4260 42-inch bezel-less plasma video wall display, mounted on Orion mainframe brackets, is also on show alongside a 2×2 Samsung UE46A 46-inch thin bezel edge-lit LED LCD video wall display, a 3×3 NEC X463UN 46-inch ultra-narrow bezel direct-lit LED LCD video wall display, a 2×2 NEC X551UN 55-inch ultra-narrow bezel direct-lit LED LCD video wall display and a 3×1 Sharp PN-V602 60-inch high brightness super-thin bezel direct-lit CED LCD video wall display.

Content on the Sharp display is being created and managed by Harris InfoCaster. InfoCaster Creator uses a broadcast graphics character generator allowing users to design sophisticated text and graphics, import video/images and create bespoke templates. The Samsung, NEC and Sharp displays are all mounted on a SMS Multi-Display Wall Pro bracket solution designed for precision alignment and high-end serviceability. All the features, functionality and benefits of the Multi-Display Wall Pro, exclusively distributed by PSCo Technical Distribution in the UK, can be explored using a specially-designed SMS demo pod.

In addition to the latest video walls, the Assessment Centre houses a selection of products from PSCo’s large-format display portfolio. From Panasonic: the 152-inch 3D, 103-inch 3D, 103-inch, 85-inch 3D and 85-inch plasmas, as well as the 70-inch and new 80-inch LCD LED backlit displays. From NEC: the 82-inch and 70-inch LCD LED backlit displays. From Sharp: the 70-inch and 80-inch LCD LED backlit displays. From Samsung: the 75-inch LCD LED edgelit display, said to be the first of its kind on the market.

In addition to viewing, touching and testing all the above products, partners can also use the Assessment Centre for bespoke training sessions.
