This year’s PLASA Focus event, to be held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds between 17 – 18 April, now has additional free professional development sessions to offer attendees.
Showcasing new products never before seen in the UK, ‘the leading event for audio, video and lighting in the North of England’ will provide even more free programmes of demonstrations, seminars and tutorials covering a variety of industry-related topics.
On Tuesday, presenting ‘How to interface Digital Audio Products with control systems’, Crestron’s partnership with Ecler will focus on performance and control of DSPs using the EclerNET configuration, with seminars to be led by Michael Izzett, technical support at Crestron – which recently opened a new experience centre in Leeds – and Audio Logic’s account manager Carl Tomkins.
Live demonstrations and explanations of KV2 Audio’s SLA (Super Live Audio) will be available to attendees. This will be followed by Erica Frost, product specialist at TMB, unraveling the complexities of interactive show control with Pandoras Box. In the afternoon, Nexo’s seminar, Scale Through Modularity – a concept debuting at Frankfurt’s Prolight + Sound exhibition – takes place in the exhibitor demo room.
Wednesday opens with an introduction to The New RDNET Control Protocol – a management system that optimises the performance of the RCF TT+ Theatre and Touring Active Loudspeaker systems – from RCF’s technical manager Mick Butler. Later on in the day Fighting For Space, presented by Shure, will guide guests through the complex world of frequency coordination in relation to the UK’s stacked events calendar this year, which includes the Olympics.
Closing proceedings will be The Backstage Academy’s The Big Training Debate – Less Talk, More Chalk, led by Robin Watkinson, chief operating officer at the Backstage academy. The session aims to explore how the industry can develop training provision in the live events profession for the benefit of future generations of practitioners and for the industry as a whole.
