The home technology arm of AV distribution group Midwich, MidwichHome, is expanding its offer to the trade with the launch of a new retail-focused division.

The new operation will offer a specialist service to independent retailers, supplying consumer electronics and accessories including DAB radios, headphones, iDocks and Apple add-ons. It will dovetail with MidwichHome’s existing CI business to create a single source for consumer electronics and home technology products.

Neil Drain is leading the new division. Previously of Lawton Trade, Drain has more than 25 years’ experience in consumer electronics, and was MD of both Vivanco and Lawton for 17 of them.

“MidwichHome is now in a great position to diversify, by delivering a mix of CE technology and accessories to retailers who appreciate and trust Midwich as a distributor,” said Drain. “The high level of service that MidwichHome provides for its customers will ensure that the new retail division offers the best possible CE and accessories distribution solution in the UK.”

Lee Hooker (pictured here, right, with Drain), general sales manager for MidwichHome, added: “We’re delighted that Neil has joined MidwichHome. He has vast experience in this particular area of home technology, and was our first choice for heading up this exciting new division, which will complement and enhance the CI side of our business.”
