The evolution of Evo

Funktion-One founder and director of R&D Tony Andrews with the Evo 2

UK loudspeaker manufacturer Funktion-One has evolved one of its earliest product releases with the introduction of the Evo 2 at ISE 2024. Building on the company’s classic Res 2 loudspeaker, the Evo 2 is the latest addition to the Evo Series, delivering better performance in a smaller enclosure.

Featuring the latest Funktion-One driver technology and highly refined tuning, Evo 2 is a medium dispersion, fully horn-loaded, three-way loudspeaker. Its versatile format is designed for a range of applications, including as a four-point club system or two-wide flown system for medium-sized venues, said the company. Suited to ground stacking for small events, flying singly or in pairs for wider coverage and larger audience areas, or used as fills supporting Vero, Evo or Vero VX systems, its Butterfly Plate rigging system enables quick and easy rigging for single and twin deployment.

Tony Andrews, Funktion-One founder and director of R&D, said: “Although it is a replacement for the Res 2, we have managed to make it smaller and get more out of it. Form follows function. It’s like the beauty of a bird’s wing; all these things have to be a certain shape in nature. Something just works and you carry on using it. We’re still coming to terms with the clarity of it.”
