Shaping the future of smart home innovation

Daryl Friedman, CEO of CEDIA, on what residential AV delights to expect at ISE 2025

As we prepare for ISE 2025, the industry is looking forward to another significant event. This year’s show will bring together experts and the latest technologies in integrated systems. CEDIA, The Association for Smart Home Professionals plays a key role in this evolving landscape. We believe that attending ISE is essential for those in the smart home sector to stay updated on the latest advancements and opportunities.

ISE 2025 marks a milestone in the evolution of integrated systems, showcasing groundbreaking advancements and offering a visionary glimpse into the future. We are at a pivotal moment in our industry, where technology is evolving at an extraordinary pace, and the possibilities are limitless.

The integration of AI, IoT, and advanced automation systems is transforming the way we live and interact with our environments. ISE 2025 will showcase the latest innovations in this space that enhance convenience, security, and energy efficiency, from intelligent lighting and climate control systems to cutting-edge home entertainment solutions.

Education and professional development are central to CEDIA’s mission, and ISE 2025 will offer a wealth of opportunities for learning and growth. The show will host a series of seminars, workshops, and panel discussions led by industry experts. They will cover a wide range of topics, from the latest technology trends to best practices in business management.

EXTENDED RANGE
The main conference programme includes 36 sessions, more than last year, and our programme will focus on an extensive range of topics with training delivered in four expert-led workshops and shorter sessions. The technical and business topics reflect the variety of content on the show floor and include Lighting & Wellness; Business Strategies & Project Management; Power Management, Energy & Sustainability; Home Cinema & Immersive Audio; AI & Tech Trends; Architecture, Design & Build; Control Systems & Assistive Technologies; and IT, Networking & Cybersecurity.

Cinema Room Lighting Design: Best Practices, Tips and Strategies – presented by Andy Bull and Peter Aylett – explores how to improve cinema room designs making them more beautiful and functional with light. Plus, hear what products not to use (and why) and explore which lighting techniques are appropriate for this ever-growing category.

Hosted by LaDonna Eriksen, Home Technology Essentials and Their Role in the Homes of Disabled Individuals discusses how technology can enhance accessibility and will cover the daily challenges they face and the technologies that can make their homes more functional and liveable. We are also excited to share that there will be education sessions in Spanish throughout the show.

The conference programme also features four ticketed workshops, including Using Today’s Numbers to Build a Profitable Financial Future – A Hands-on Workshop. Presented by Leslie Shiner, this interactive session looks at how to manage financial resources to build a profitable future. Participants will be challenged to collaboratively build an operational and financial plan for a fictitious company.

Also, Cinema Reference Level: What, Why and How – presented by Ben Goff – takes a detailed look at the relevance of 85+20 for home entertainment and covers the design and calibration of reference level playback.

We have curated a fantastic line up of informative sessions to be hosted on the CEDIA Smart Home Technology Stage. The Mikey & Rich Show: ISE Kick-Off Extravaganza is a fast-paced presentation which will clue attendees in on what new technologies, services, and products they should be looking out for on the show floor. The Integrators and Architects Forever: A Beneficial Friendship session explores the alliance between integrators and architects. Experts will discuss how their collaboration has evolved, redefining standards and showing how partnerships with adjacent trades shape a harmonious future. I will also venture onto this stage on Wednesday to present the CEDIA Annual Meeting.

Networking is another crucial aspect of ISE 2025. The event will bring together professionals from all corners of the globe, providing a unique platform for collaboration and partnership. At CEDIA, we believe the power of our industry lies in our ability to connect and share knowledge. ISE 2025 will facilitate these connections, fostering a sense of community and collaboration that will drive us forward.

CEDIA will be hosting its Connection Hour every day at the CEDIA booth (2F500). These gatherings will provide a unique platform for members and potential members to network, share ideas, and build valuable connections. Furthermore, the members reception will take place, offering a chance for CEDIA members to come together, celebrate their achievements, and discuss the future of the industry. New features for the residential sector this year include the CEDIA Distributor Lounge on the show floor as a place for distributors to connect with customers, as well as the CEDIA Smart Home Gallery – a great place for the design and build attendees to network and discover how technology and design seamlessly integrate, as part of our initiative to provide content for this valuable audience.

We will also be involved with the AV Career Day on the Friday. This event allows us to network with students who will learn about career paths in the AV industry and take part in ‘speed dating’ with prospective employers.

As we look ahead to ISE 2025, I am filled with optimism and excitement. The advancements we will see at this year’s event are a testament to the ingenuity and creativity of our industry. At CEDIA, we are committed to supporting our members and the wider industry as we navigate this exciting journey. I look forward to seeing you at ISE 2025 and exploring the incredible innovations that will shape the future of integrated systems.
