ISE People: Graham Naylor-Smith, Associate Director, Arup

One of Europe’s leading audio visual and multimedia consultants, Graham Naylor-Smith is Associate Director of Arup. At ISE 2013, he will be speaking at the Smart Building Conference, which is making its debut at this year’s show. A joint venture of ISE’s owners InfoComm International and CEDIA, the Smart Building Conference will look at how smart buildings are being designed, built and used, with expert case studies and presentations from some of the industry’s pre-eminent educators and consultants.

Actively involved in the development of smart building consultancy services, Graham will be presenting “From Smart Rooms to Smart Buildings” on Monday 28 January.

Graham will examine the opportunities and tangible benefits of “smart” for building owners and users, and what it means for the AV industry, as convergence of systems at the building level becomes more of a reality.

With a background in broadcasting, Graham trained in the capital projects departments at the BBC, before joining Arup in 1993 to develop its audio-visual consultancy services. Serving clients in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia, his work embraces strategic and technical design consultancy for clients from many walks of life including investment banks, international and government organisations, multinationals, universities and hospitals.

Graham is well known as an exponent of the opportunities brought about by the convergence of audio visual with information and communications technologies and has published several articles, and presented at many conferences around the world.
