ISE 2013: IHSE to debut Draco compact KVM switch

Designed for small and medium-sized installations, the Draco compact is said to be suitable for installations not requiring the extended bandwidth, fibre connectivity or modularity of the full Draco tera enterprise system.

ISE sees the first major public showing of the recently-announced Draco compact range of KVM and DVI matrix switches from IHSE, which join the Draco tera enterprise KVM switches.

Designed for small and medium-sized installations, IHSE says that the Draco compact delivers extremely price-competitive solutions for installations not requiring the extended bandwidth, fibre connectivity or modularity of the full Draco tera enterprise system.

The Draco compact offers 16 to 48 flexible input and output combinations over copper connection. IHSE says that, like the Draco tera enterprise, the compact offers the fastest KVM switching available with no blank screens or delay associated with resynchronisation, giving full and immediate access to source computers from remote consoles.

Based on well-established Gigabit technology, the Draco compact includes Flex-Port technology for fully automatic, dynamic allocation of input and output ports, with auto-reconnection and hot-swap. Ports can be combined to support single, dual and quad-head computer configurations. It can also serve as a full-bandwidth HD video matrix. Connection to source computers and consoles over Cat X cable is achieved through dedicated interface units, supporting various configurations of Single-Link DVI up to 1920 x 1200, USB-HID and USB 2.0 each capable of transmission over 140 meters away from the switch.

According to IHSE, the advantages of the Draco compact lie in its ability to be configured with additional software modules to meet application requirements exactly, over-and-above its comprehensive core functionality. These include the Draco tera tool, to provide a graphical user control interface, API for bespoke system access and control, SNMP and Syslog management. To support future application expansion, Draco compact units may be stacked or cascaded to expand the number of inputs and outputs available on a single system.
