The leading trade-only distributor of integrated AV solutions for residential, commercial and marine applications has also confirmed distribution of JVC’s new upconverting 3D projectors (pictured).
The decision to transform Grandbeing Technology (UK) Ltd into Wyrestorm Technologies Europe follows the acquisition of the Memphis-based Wyrestorm LLC. Invision UK signed a distribution agreement with Grandbeing earlier this year, and the newly-named organisation retains all previous relationships and entitlements with regard to distribution rights, product manufacture, new product development and technical expertise.
Formally launched during CEDIA US, The new Wyrestorm brand will be used both in the US and EMEA markets, with the expansion to be backed by considerable investment in the value of stock holding in the EU and US.
In another significant development, Invision UK has revealed that it is to distribute JVC’s new upconverting 3D projectors – billed as the first in the world capable of displaying 2D HD content with full 4k precision. The move follows the company’s recent appointment as distributor for JVC’s projector range.
The new upconverting models are the DLA-X90R and DLA-X70R (pictured), which feature JVC’s 4k e-shift technology, capable of projecting images with 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution – four times that of full HD. A third, non-4k 3D model, the DLA-X30, joins the others in offering other advancements that boost picture quality, improve 3D performance and enhance functionality.
Using e-shift, 2D HD content is upconverted and scaled to a 4k signal (3840 x 2160) and the e-shift technology displays it at full 4k precision. Compared to a Full HD (1920 x 1080) image, that’s twice the horizontal and vertical resolution, and four times the number of pixels – or over 8 megapixels.
The two e-shift models have been designed to achieve THX 3D Display certification, and are in the process of being tested by THX. During the THX 3D certification process, more than 400 laboratory tests are conducted, evaluating colour accuracy, crosstalk, viewing angles and video processing.
All three new projectors feature three 0.7inch 1920 x 1080 D-ILA devices, and are designed around JVC’s third generation D-ILA High Dynamic Range optical engine. Other features across the three models include: a 3D anamorphic system combined with an optional anamorphic lens; brighter 3D images that previous models, thanks to an improved driver that keeps the shutter on the active shutter 3D glasses open; Crosstalk Canceller to further reduce crosstalk through analysis of the left eye and right eye signals and applying appropriate correction; and a parallax adjustment to allow the user to tailor the 3D image effect.
