InstallAwards finalists: Retail, Transport and Public Space Star Product Award

With just two days to go before the InstallAwards, we present the penultimate award preview, with a comprehensive rundown of the contenders for the Star Product Award in the Retail, Transport and Public Space category.

This category is for projects where the aim of the installation is to inform, influence or entertain people as they shop, travel or undertake other aspects of their daily lives. Unlike the audience venues category, the installation is an adjunct to people’s activity, not at the heart of it.

The star product award focuses on a single part of the installation – a product that performs a key role in the overall system design. We’re especially interested in products that provide a new solution for an existing issue.

Nanolumens NanoSlim – Melbourne Central

This eye-catching DOOH display is the largest 6mm NanoSlim LED portrait display ever installed.

The NanoSlim LED display has a sleek profile for the most efficient use of space and is also eco-friendly, claiming to use no more power than an average hair dryer and producing little heat. The display accepts input from nearly any device or content management system, so there is no need for special software, hardware or special personnel.

Absen LED AIO3 – Melissa’s London

Imaginative deployment of 65 3.9mm Absen AI03 LED panels has produced a show-stopping retail backdrop.

The displays have adjustable brightness and colour control based on the ambient lighting and provide features ideal for retail including low pixel pitch to display high resolution content, slim depth, high refresh rates and contrast levels.

Harkness Translite Grey rear-projection surfaces – South Bank Tower HD Projection

This ultra-realistic panoramic installation was designed to show customers the view of the London skyline that would be available from luxury penthouses still under construction.

The rear projection screen and projectors were integrated together to create a realistic, panoramic representation of what prospective owners might expect to see from the high value, premium apartments on the upper levels.

LedGO flexible LED panels – World Duty Free Store, Heathrow Terminal 2

A suite of AV technologies to deliver the ‘retail theatre’ aspect of airside shopping were designed, supplied, installed, commissioned and are being maintained.

Their physical flexibility allows deployment in ways that would be impossible for rigid screens.

The InstallAwards 2015 take place on Thursday 4 June at the Bloomsbury Ballroom, London. Tickets for the event are available now and cost £225 or £1,695 for a table of 10. Click here for more details or email [email protected]
