With the InstallAwards just two weeks ago we turn our attention to the Education category and the Best Project Award, which features a variety of innovative projects in secondary and higher education.

For the best project award we will be looking for evidence of as many of the following as possible:

– Technical innovation

– Elegant design – technical or aesthetic

– Meeting or exceeding the client brief

– Expansion capability/futureproofing.

Cardiff Business School postgraduate study centre – GV Multi-media

The centre aims to develop a collaborative business environment with highlights including collaborative desks and two custom LED tickers displaying stock information.

Cardiff University commissioned GV Multi-media’s Exeter team to install the AV system throughout 12 flexible seminar rooms, a pair of large auditoriums, two student common rooms, an atrium, an executive education suite and a trading floor as well as other non-AV spaces and offices.

Carlo Anti High School – Vivitek

A collaborative learning zone has been created in the school to promote creativity featuring BYOD capability enabling students to share content from different devices.

The project utilised new advancing elements to enable students to participate in lessons, share content and collaborate from their tablets and smartphones. The Vivitek D755WTIR ultra-short-throw projector used has a finger-touch feature allowing for simultaneous writing, drawing and annotations for up to four touch points.

Leicester BSF Project – CDEC

The council received funding to rebuild/remodel every secondary school in the city integrating bespoke and futureproof AV solutions.

Leicester City Council was awarded more than £235m BSF funding for the project, which is the largest capital investment for over 50 years, the project involved 16 secondary schools, five special schools and three ICT only schemes.

National Judicial College – Kramer

The fully integrated system provides the mock courtroom with reliable communication through each room with the touchscreen panel switching any signal to any location.

The goal of the project was to create a system that would allow communication throughout the courtroom, including the jury room, media room, judge’s chambers and attorney rooms. Most importantly, the integration of the many AV components that would be simultaneously present in this courtroom needed to be able to switch, scale and route many signals at once.
