October edition of Installation is now available!

Installation content director Rob Lane outlines what's within the covers of the latest issue of your favourite AV magazine

The visitor attractions and live venue sectors have long been early adopters and enthusiastic embracers of AV technology, so it’s good to see that their excitement for, and commitment towards, all things audio-video hasn’t abated. Indeed, if anything, AV is transforming venues like never before, with immersive sound and vision raising the bar of visitor expectations at destinations such as Las Vegas’ Sphere and London’s Light Room. The lead feature in October’s edition – see digital edition below – takes a deep dive into the adoption of new tech by canny venue operators.

End users of venues – and the expert technology staffers who advise them – are, of course, very demanding, pushing integrators, consultants, and the AV manufacturers creating all of this sound and vision magic, to even greater heights. The third of 2024’s roundtable features – this time unlocking the views of end user ‘tech gurus’ – also features in this edition.

Elsewhere, we take a green-tinted-glasses look at sustainability in AV, with viewpoints from vendors, industry experts, and organisations such as Futuresource Consulting and AVIXA. This feature is a taster for our upcoming AV sustainability eBook, which will be available for free registration from October 25th.

IBC2024 burned a lot of calories for the Installation team: so many booths, so many meetings; so little time! It was a cracking show – IBC’s best yet? – and witnessed the most definitive proof to date that AV and broadcast technologies are converging faster than ever before – in both directions. Find out more in our show report.

Elsewhere, we consider the implications of the global IT outage involving CrowdStrike, and how it should prompt pro AV customers to rethink crisis resilience in our investigation, ‘Beware! The Bluescreen of Death’. We also deep-dive into NMOS, a foundational pillar of the Internet Protocol Media Experience initiative. Finally, as ever, we have thought leader articles from some of the AV industry’s main movers and shakers, a roundup of the latest and greatest installations, recent job appointments, and a cracking Inside Track Q&A interview with Sonos’ Stephen Rhead.

Enjoy the issue.
