New edition of Installation now available!

Content director Rob Lane reveals what's inside the March/April issue, and discusses the AV industry's evolving convergence – with our audio lead feature providing one of the clearest examples of that shift. Look out for our report on Radiohead's AV-heavy tour too!

If one theme consistently emerges from conversations across the AV industry right now, it is convergence. The boundaries that once separated professional AV, broadcast, IT and creative production are increasingly difficult to define.

Audio provides one of the clearest examples of that shift, and it forms the focus of this issue’s lead feature. Once treated as a largely standalone element within AV installs and live productions, audio systems are now embedded within network infrastructures. AoIP, software-based control and IT-centric workflows are reshaping how sound systems are designed, deployed and managed.

That same pattern of convergence was visible at ISE 2026, reviewed in this issue. With record attendance, the event offered a snapshot of an industry in transition. Broadcast technologies, IP infrastructures and cloud workflows increasingly intersect with AV platforms. You’ll see those overlaps reflected throughout this issue – from our deep dive into networked audio to features on KVM and AVoIP.

Different technologies, increasingly built on the same foundations – and speaking the same language. Enjoy the issue!
